Currently I’m working as a Research Fellow at Taiwan NextGen Foundation! I direct our Bilingual Education Research Program, where we are evaluating the return on investment to English language education in Taiwan. I also just accepted an offer to join Bain & Co. as an Associate Consultant in the SF office, starting next summer! (If anyone is interested in consulting, please reach out! Always here to help.)
What advice do you have for Current Members?
Stop stressing! Y’all are SO talented and SO prepared. You need to internalize the fact that you’d be an asset to any company YOU decide is worth your time. The worst thing you can do as an undergraduate is stress yourself out by overburdening yourself, taking on too much, and then doing it badly. For example, if you have to take a bunch of tough pre-reqs for your major, don’t join a bunch of clubs! If you need more professional experience, take easy classes while you focus on that! I made it through Cal without pulling a single all nighter just by being focused on my intention for each semester. There is no reason to go out of your way to make life harder for yourself than it needs to be.
What is your favorite HUBBA Memory?
Ah, so many! But there’s two that stand out; first was my first ever HUBBA event - it was a networking dinner held in Anna Head Alumnae Hall. I’ll never ever forget meeting North America’s recruiting head for EY, who was a Latino man who was beyond inspiring. I was amazed that such an organization existed on campus who could actually help me gain access to those high level opportunities!
Second would have to be winning a scholarship at an end of year rooftop party we threw. Watching the sunset while being surrounded by so much Black excellence and good food was unforgettable. I was also really broke at the time, so it was honestly life changing being part of an organization that supported me beyond just my professional development.
